Trim Size
Trim size is the finished size of a book after the excess material has been cut off by the printer. In short, it is the size your book will be when your customers hold it in their hands. Though most book types are printed in typical standard sizes, custom sizes can be created to fit your needs and properly suit your book.

Trim Size Determinations
Most typical trim sizes were determined for economic reasons. Paper sizes were chosen that maximize plant products and fit most easily with printers. Most printing machines include these sizes as presets that can be chosen and printed without extra setup. Therefore, standard sizes are the most economic for printing, though they are not the only options.
